How It Works & App Onboarding
Get your Billy
Order Billy from our shop: billythepiggy.com (shipping available across the EU). Inside the package you'll find Billy, a USB-C charging cable.
Note: Billy is rechargeable—a full charge lasts about a week under normal use. Most families prefer to keep him plugged in.
Download the app
The free Billy app is required to pair, manage, and receive money on Billy.

The app requires Bluetooth + Wi-Fi to pair, and push notifications to alert you when family sends money.
Create your account
Open the app and tap Let’s start saving. Fill in:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address (used for receipts and secure login)
- A secure password
Verify your account using the 6-digit confirmation code sent to your email.
Device Pairing & Stripe Payouts
Set up payouts securely
Billy uses Stripe (powering payments for Amazon, Uber, and Shopify) to securely route funds directly to your linked IBAN.
To configure payouts:
- Enter your name, address and date of birth, and phone number.
- Select your EU country and input your bank account’s IBAN.
- Complete Stripe's simple KYC identity verification: snap a photo of your ID card/passport and a quick verification selfie.
- To change your IBAN later in the app, tap Account Settings > Change Bank Account.
Most verifications are cleared in a few minutes. Funds settle into your account on Stripe's standard rolling payout cycle.
Pair Billy with Wi-Fi
1. Press and hold the power button on Billy’s back for 5 seconds until it turns on.
2. Locate the second button on Billy’s back.
3. Press and hold the button for about 10 seconds until the green light blinks quickly. You'll also hear "Starting fast provisioning mode".
Trouble pairing? Ensure Bluetooth is turned on, stand close to Billy, and verify that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi band.
Set up your child
Tell the app about your child's preferences:
- Child's first name - Appears on Billy's screen and shared links ("Help Lina reach her bike goal!").
- Child's age - Fill in your child’s age.
You can add and manage multiple children later under Settings > Manage Devices.
Savings Goals & Money Flow
Create savings goals
Add goals via the app dashboard by naming the goal, defining target amounts, and choosing a target emoji. Unallocated transfers automatically flow into "Billy's Belly"—an overflow savings pile.
Share secure links
Tap Request a Payment on any goal to generate a sharing link or QR code. Family & friends can pay using standard credit/debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, or PayPal without needing a Billy account.
Money arrives!
Upon payment, Billy lights up, plays a cheerful notification sound, and updates his digital screen. Payment settle into your linked bank account on a rolling schedule (1-2 business days).
Reaching the target
Once you've reached your goal and made your purchase, simply enter the amount spent. Any remaining savings will automatically return to Billy's Belly.
